Sorry about the lack of updates

August 14, 2008

Hi regular readers of Help Developer (and new ones), I would just like to say sorry for not posting the past week, I promise I will post regularly again soon, I am just working on quite a few contracts at the moment and getting themes designed and ready for when ThemeForest goes live.

In the meantime, I have had a look through my Google Reader and found some great articles that may interest you.

So check these out and don’t forget the forums are still open for chatting to other readers and hopefully I can get back into the swing of blogging again very soon, also I am planning a new design so look out for that.

I will be posting a review of the new site from Eden Envato, Theme Forest which is currently in private beta as I am one of the lucky testers. I will give you a sneaky peak at what is very likely to make a lot of designers very happy and rich and could most definately will become the central point of template sales. Look out for that in the next couple of days.

That funny 404 error link is quite funny. It links you to a 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable page. Someone is quite the comedian here…

After several attempts to load the page it’s trying to get there. Still loading!

Yeah theres a lot of images there to load, the 503 error, not sure whether thats real or a joke, probably just a coincidence.

QUICK TIP

Chrome is Crashable

The so called un-crashabale browser IS crashable. No, I’m not talking about 1 tab, not a process, or even the about:crash Easter egg. Without even needing to press enter, or click GO, just type :%. No period. Just a colon, and percent sign. EVERYTHING crashes. Make sure you aren’t doing important stuff.

Back Button To Big?

If you using Mozilla Firefox, you might not be liking that new, unusual over sized back button. While keeping other icons at a nice, easy to navigate size, just go to Customize on the bar, and select “Use Small Icons”.

FireFTP

A lot of people use applications to update their websites via F T P. However, they tend to be bogged down with all sorts of tools which the majority of people don’t need.

FireFTP is a great addon for Firefox which allows you to FTP direct from the browser, quickly and easily, and you can create folders and change permissions with ease.

Remove border from links

Have you ever noticed them dotted lines around links when you click them in Firefox? To get rid of them simply add the following CSS:

a:active, a:focus {
outline:none;
-moz-outline-style:none;
}
