HD Todaily - 22/08/08
August 22, 2008
Today I spent most of the day coding up a design for a client of mine, it was by far the nicest design I have ever coded for a client so that was great. I have also been redesigning my new site which will be launched soon jQueryIsland, I was going to use a similar design to Help Developer as you can see if you go there now but have changed my mind and am working on a much nicer simpler looking design.
There have been a few things posted on the various blogs I have been following today of interest to me and maybe to you too. Fuel Your Creativity’s writer Adelle Charles posted on her twitter about a nice collection of sketch style icons, a common occurrence in web design at the moment are designs based around handwriting and stationary so these icons could come in very handy, so thanks Adelle for finding them and thanks to ResourcePile for posting them.
Yesterday we saw the best 12 Print Magazines for Web and Graphic Designers and today NETTuts posted the best web developement books as voted for by the users of the site. If you are a freelancer like me then you should really be checking in every now and then with Freelance Folder (and Freelance Switch) and today they posted a nice article entitled: “Who’s Really In Control Of Your Freelance Business?” and if you have time for a tutorial check out ProgTuts tutorial on creating a Pure CSS Accordion Menu.
Finally, if you are wondering what that rather nice picture of an iMac is in the post for, then you need to check out the top 96 Kick Ass Home Office Setups from NerdBusiness if you get a spare 5 minutes, or like me last night a spare half hour
That’s it for today, join me on Monday for my next HD Todaily or during the weekend for my weekend countdown of the best sites, articles and resources from the world of design. Also its coming to the end of the month and my very popular 10 top photoshop tutorials post will be appearing next week so get your favourites in by commenting on this post, adding them to the community links, mentioning them in the forum or any other way you can think of.

sweet dude, i love the hdtodaily (nice name by the way)
i looked at the office setup when i saw it in your twitter yesterday and loved some of those setups (although it’s argueable that some of those are home office’s some of those were totally for gaming, anyhow i’d like to get a dual monitor setup instead of one) I’m looking forward to the top 10 photoshop tutorials. Keep it up Simon

Hey, just answered you question in the forums, hope I got what you meant.
I was thinking of a dual monitor setup when I built my new pc a couple of weeks ago but glad I didn’t, instead I went for a nice LG 22 inch monitor which is the perfect size for designing. Because I use Linux I have the 4 virtual desktops (or whatever you call them) setup, if I used dual monitors I think I’d just end up using one rather than the 2.
