Hi, I am considering adding a graphic/web design forum on Help Developer as the site is now getting quite a few returning visitors and would like to know your opinions on this. Is it a good idea? Would you use it? There is nothing worse than an unused forum that ends up being spammed and closed down as many of my forums have.

The so called un-crashabale browser IS crashable. No, I’m not talking about 1 tab, not a process, or even the about:crash Easter egg. Without even needing to press enter, or click GO, just type :%. No period. Just a colon, and percent sign. EVERYTHING crashes. Make sure you aren’t doing important stuff.
If you using Mozilla Firefox, you might not be liking that new, unusual over sized back button. While keeping other icons at a nice, easy to navigate size, just go to Customize on the bar, and select “Use Small Icons”.
A lot of people use applications to update their websites via F T P. However, they tend to be bogged down with all sorts of tools which the majority of people don’t need.
FireFTP is a great addon for Firefox which allows you to FTP direct from the browser, quickly and easily, and you can create folders and change permissions with ease.
Have you ever noticed them dotted lines around links when you click them in Firefox? To get rid of them simply add the following CSS:
a:active, a:focus {
outline:none;
-moz-outline-style:none;
}

im afraid i wouldn’t use it because i have a forum i use for gimp and already don’t have time to go on forums much, however i guess if u made it i would use it but not much and it bothers me when there’s a forum and you miss lots of the posts because there are so many people posting and you don’t have time to read them all,
o well that’s just my opinion i guess,

Thanks for letting me know your opinion. That is the exact reason why I am asking to see how many people would use it, you probably see my other site howtogimp and that forum is dead now, I get the occasional post but i have to check everyday to ensure there is no spam. However if there were enough people who wanted to use it then it would be worthwhile.

Awesome! I would love to have a forum. All of the other Gimp Forums i use aren’t very organized and basiclly aren’t filled with great content! A forum would be awesome!

I’ve a SMF-based forum that has been up and running for well over two years now. We had a lot of spammers attempting to join for the first year or so, but with the use of the Ban List, we rarely if ever see the same attempts now.
If you’d like for me to forward you the Ban Triggers we’ve amassed for your own use here, I’d be glad to do so. It will save you a lot of work and worry.
Re: a forum here, I think it would be a good resource, regardless of the amount of traffic. I think the GIMP niche is going to grow quite a bit as F/OSS operating systems get more attention and become more prevalent, and with your tutorials, there will be questions (count on it! lol). You might as well ride the wave.

I think, that this is a great forum. Very intresting and useful.
But I can’t find the search function, cause I want faster find the topics that could be intresting for me to express my opinion…
