5 places to post your graphic design portfolio

June 12, 2008

Getting exposure for your portfolio is extremely important as you are not likely to get your portfolio to the top of Google. Portfolio sites are where a lot of designers turn to.

In this list I will show you the very best places to post your portfolio. I have also added my portfolio for each of the sites so go have a look if you get chance :)

-

DeviantArt | Go to site | My Profile

Obviously DeviantArt is going to be at the top of the list, it is the worlds biggest portfolio website and nearly every designer out there can be found on there. You can use it for inspiration as well no matter what discipline of design you are involved in.

Professional on the web | Go to site | My Profile

Professional on the web is an online community where freelancers and web agencies can post their portfolios. It is extremely easy to use, I created my portfolio in about 2 minutes, simply give yourself a description and some tags and then add your projects by giving each project a title and a URL, no uploading images because it goes a gets a snapsot of the page, you do have the option to upload your own image if you want to.

-

Behance | Go to site

I know that a lot of people use Behance, however when I was writing this I had to request an invitation so I cannot give you details about setting your portfolio up. However, on looking at some of the members portfolios I noticed that you portfolio’s look very sleek and you can add details such as contact details, tags, sites and much more.

showthatportfolio | Go to site | My Profile

OK, I had to mention this eventually on this site. showthatportfolio is my online community for artists and designers, it is by no far the biggest portfolio site but it is easy to use and you can add details about your pricing and conditions. Unlike the other sites featured in this list, showthatportfolio is less of a portfolio site but more of a market pitch to potential clients. Users can view your portfolio, add comments and contact the member quickly and easily. It’s worth taking a look.

design:related | Go to site | My Profile

design:related is a great portfolio site. You can set up your profile with details and tags and you can upload your projects simply and quickly, although there are some restrictions such as not being allowed to upload .png files. The site is clean and very fast, it has a nice design which makes it nicer to use. There are also options to network with other members and get inspiration for your work.
