Create an RSS feed icon/button (part 3)
April 14, 2008
In the second of my tutorials on creating RSS feed icons, I will show you how to create this:

- Firstly, as last time download this image by right clicking and choosing the Save Image As… (or something similar) option:

- Create a new image with 125px x 125px dimensions
- Now select the Open As Layers option on the File menu and find the RSS feed icon you just saved
- Select the transform tool (shortcut: “Shift and P”), and click and drag the edges to make a shape like this:

- Click the Transform button, it should now look something like this:

- Duplicate the layer, select the second of the two rss layers and move the layer to the right by 8 pixels and below by 8 pixels and press Ctrl and A to select the layer, press Ctrl and X to cut the layer content and paste it back in using Ctrl and V.
- Set the fore colour to #ff4b2f and press Ctrl and comma (,) to fill the selection with the colour.
- It should look something like this:

- Duplicate this layer so that it adds more colour
- Create a new layer under the top layer and draw the following with the path tool

- Fill it with the foreground colour, and do a similar thing with the top right:

- And there you have it, the final result:

- Now to add the drop shadow select the penultimate layer and create a drop shadow by clicking Drop Shadow from the Light and Shadows menu on the Filters menu. Set the offsets to 0 and click OK. And there you have it, finished.
